Caitlin and Michael began their wedding day the way the best ones often do – quietly, just the two of them. Their first look at The Austin happened before the noise of the day could find them. What followed was a private vow reading, the two of them side by side, voices low, sharing the kind of words that don’t need an audience. There was emotion in it, and excitement too, the feeling of standing at the edge of something new and choosing to leap together.
We took the bridal party over to Loose Park for portraits, one of Kansas City’s most beloved green spaces. Then we headed back for an evening ceremony that was warm in every sense of the word. There’s a moment I look forward to at every wedding: the one right after the couple walks out of sight of their guests for the first time as married people. The exhale. The burst of joy. The bridal party rushing in with hugs and happy tears. It’s unscripted and alive, and Caitlin and Michael’s was no exception.
Their guests were treated to a dinner catered by Garrozzo’s, a Kansas City staple, followed by toasts from the maid of honor, best man, and both sets of parents. They were the kind of speeches that had the room laughing one moment and reaching for tissues the next. And before the night wound down, the two of them slipped away for a private cake cutting and a glass of champagne. No guests, no timeline, just a quiet moment to let it all settle… to remember.
